
Police say Ali Haruna allegedly stabbed the woman during an incident at a hotel in Girei, as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, identified as Ali Haruna, in connection with the alleged killing of his girlfriend at a hotel in Girei Local Government Area of the state.
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, August 14, 2026, at No Vex Hotel in Girei.
The state police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the arrest, saying Haruna was taken into custody following the woman’s death.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly stabbed the woman during an incident at the hotel. Officers subsequently arrested him and began investigating the circumstances that led to her death.
Nguroje said the suspect is currently assisting the police with their investigation as detectives work to establish what happened and determine the events that preceded the alleged attack.
The command said Haruna would be charged to court after the investigation is concluded.
Police have not released the identity of the deceased or provided further details about the nature of the relationship between her and the suspect. They have also not disclosed what allegedly triggered the confrontation at the hotel.
The command is expected to provide further information as the investigation progresses.
Haruna remains presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
