Samson reportedly left his workshop in Ibeju-Lekki after receiving a call to repair a Mercedes-Benz, but was allegedly taken into a bush and hacked to death. Police are investigating the killing and possible links to a cult-related feud.

A mechanic identified as Samson has allegedly been lured to his death in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, after responding to what appeared to be a routine request to repair a Mercedes-Benz.

Samson, who operated a mechanic workshop around Warike Estate, Abijo, reportedly left his workplace on Tuesday, September 15, after being contacted about the vehicle.

He was expected to return after attending to the supposed customer.

However, according to information gathered from the police and other sources, Samson never made it back to his workshop.

Instead, he was allegedly taken away from the location where he was expected to meet the vehicle and led into a bush, where he was reportedly attacked and hacked to death.

The circumstances surrounding his disappearance and death have since triggered a police investigation, with detectives working to establish who contacted him, where he was taken and what happened after he left his workshop.

A police source said investigators were looking into the circumstances of the killing and attempting to identify those responsible.

The source also indicated that suspected cultists were believed to be connected to the attack, although the investigation had yet to establish the full circumstances or motive behind the killing.

Alleged Link to Cult-Related Killing

An alternative account has emerged suggesting that Samson's death could be connected to an earlier cult-related killing in the Ibeju-Lekki area.

An anti-cultism advocacy platform alleged that the mechanic was killed as part of a retaliatory attack following the death of a man identified as Ola Sheu.

Sheu was reportedly killed around Adeba Bus Stop, Lakowe, Ibeju-Lekki, on September 9.

According to the platform, Sheu was allegedly a member of the Eiye confraternity and was killed in an incident it attributed to members of the NBM.

The platform claimed that Sheu's alleged cult affiliation was not widely known within the community until a photograph of him wearing an Aye cult beret during his graduation surfaced online in a birthday-related post.

It alleged that the photograph drew the attention of rival cult members, who subsequently targeted Sheu.

The platform further claimed that Samson's killing was connected to the alleged retaliation that followed.

However, the alleged connection between the two killings has not been independently established, and police have not publicly confirmed that Samson was killed as part of a cult reprisal.

Police Trace Mechanic's Final Movements

The investigation reportedly began after Samson's family raised the alarm over his disappearance.

Following the report, detectives were said to have visited his apartment and commenced efforts to reconstruct his movements after he left for the supposed repair job.

Police were also reportedly working to track his mobile phone, hoping that location and communication records would provide clues about where he went and who he may have been in contact with before his death.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the case had been reported and that an investigation was ongoing.

Investigators are now working to piece together the events between the time Samson received the alleged Mercedes-Benz repair request and the point where he was reportedly attacked.

Key questions remain about who arranged the repair job, who took Samson to the bush, why he was targeted and whether the alleged cult rivalry played any role in his death.
