Man Allegedly Steals Toyota Tundra During Test Drive, Injures Several in Lagos

Man allegedly drove off with a Toyota Tundra from a VGC dealership, damaged security equipment and vehicles, and injured several people, including four dispatch riders, before being apprehended in the Ajiran area.

A dramatic incident unfolded in Lagos on Monday after a young man allegedly made away with a Toyota Tundra truck from a car dealership in the Victoria Garden City (VGC) area, triggering a chaotic chase that reportedly left several vehicles damaged and multiple people injured.

According to reports, the incident began when the well-dressed man walked into a car dealership around VGC, expressing interest in purchasing a Toyota Tundra.

He was reportedly handed the keys to the vehicle to take it for a test drive. However, instead of returning to the dealership, the suspect allegedly locked the doors and sped away with the truck.

His alleged escape soon escalated into a dangerous driving spree, putting motorists, security personnel and pedestrians at risk.

Reports indicate that the driver proceeded towards VGC without an access code, allegedly damaging security equipment while forcing his way through the entrance. A security guard was also reportedly hit during the incident.

The suspect allegedly continued towards the Chevron Alternative route, where the situation became more chaotic. Several vehicles were reportedly damaged as he drove through the area, while multiple people, including four dispatch riders and other pedestrians, were allegedly struck.

The reckless journey eventually slowed as he approached Agungi, where traffic congestion reportedly hindered his movement.

With his escape route increasingly restricted, the suspect allegedly diverted into the Ajiran area in an attempt to evade capture.

His journey reportedly ended when he was eventually apprehended inside a canal in the area.

The circumstances surrounding the incident, including the full extent of the injuries and property damage, remain unclear from the available account. Further details about the suspect and any possible police investigation have yet to be confirmed.

The incident has raised fresh concerns about road safety, security at residential estates and the potential dangers posed when vehicles are allegedly taken without authorisation.

Authorities are expected to establish the full sequence of events and determine the appropriate legal action as further details emerge.
