Authorities reportedly uncovered a coffin buried beneath a concrete slab at a church linked to Nigerian-born prophet Kedi Samuel Kenechukwu in Yaoundé, with the remains believed to be those of a woman.

A disturbing discovery at a church property in Cameroon has triggered an investigation after a badly mummified body was allegedly found inside a coffin buried underground.

The remains were reportedly discovered on Saturday, September 19, at the Mercy of God Ministry church in Nkoabang, located in the Nkol-Afamba district of Yaoundé. The property is linked to Nigerian-born prophet Kedi Samuel Kenechukwu.

According to report, investigators broke through a concrete slab at the premises and discovered a coffin buried approximately 1.5 metres beneath the ground.

Inside the coffin, investigators reportedly found human remains in an advanced state of mummification.

The newspaper said the remains appeared to be those of a woman who was dressed in traditional clothing. However, authorities have not officially identified the deceased, and the circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear.

Investigators are expected to establish the identity of the person, determine how and when she died, and establish who was responsible for placing the coffin beneath the concrete slab.

The discovery has raised questions about how the coffin was buried on the church property and whether anyone connected to the premises had knowledge of the burial.

Kedi Samuel, who is linked to the property, was reportedly not available for questioning and is said to be currently on the run. Authorities have reportedly declared him wanted as investigations continue.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged death, the identity of the deceased and the reason for the burial remain subject to investigation.

Authorities have yet to publicly establish whether the church leader had any involvement in the death or burial. Any allegations against him therefore remain unproven pending the outcome of the investigation.
