Fast-rising singer Afeez Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, leaves fans heartbroken as tributes pour in amid unanswered questions over his death.

The Nigerian music industry has been plunged into mourning following reports of the death of fast-rising street-pop singer Destiny Boy, born Afeez Adeshina.

The artiste is said to have passed away at the age of 22. News of his reported death began circulating on Sunday, January 18, 2026, after journalist Temilola Sobola shared the update on social media, announcing the loss and offering prayers for the young singer’s soul.

As of press time, the cause of death remains unknown. Neither Destiny Boy’s family nor his management has issued an official statement clarifying the circumstances surrounding his reported passing.

Destiny Boy rose to prominence at a remarkably young age, carving a niche with his gritty street-pop sound infused with Fuji influences. He shot into the national spotlight in 2019 after his Fuji-style cover of Davido’s “If” went viral, earning him widespread acclaim and a devoted fan base. The breakthrough success led to several other well-received covers of songs by top Nigerian artistes, including Tekno, 2Baba, 9ice, and Small Doctor.

Beyond music, the singer occasionally made headlines for his personal life. In November 2024, reports emerged that he had welcomed his first child at just 20. Earlier, in March 2024, he sparked conversations online after allegedly proposing to his partner with a diamond ring reportedly worth millions of naira.

Since news of his reported death broke, fans, fellow artistes, and social media users have flooded timelines with emotional tributes, celebrating Destiny Boy’s talent, humble beginnings, and the promise of a career many believe was cut tragically short.
