Nollywood star opens up on relationships, calls Lagos dating scene “stressful” despite positive personal experiences
Nollywood actress Teniola Aladese has revealed she is not interested in pursuing romantic relationships with fellow actors, stating a clear preference for dating producers or directors within the film industry.
The actress made the disclosure during an appearance on the popular podcast I Said What I Said, where she spoke candidly about her personal life and experiences with dating.
Aladese noted that her social media direct messages are constantly filled with attention from admirers, describing the influx of suitors as overwhelming. “Men have audacity. If I open my DMs for you, you will see a lot,” she said.
Despite the attention, the actress expressed reservations about dating within her immediate professional circle, particularly actors. Instead, she indicated a willingness to explore relationships with creatives working behind the scenes, such as producers and directors.
Commenting on the broader dating culture in Lagos, Aladese described it as “stressful” and “a very big mess,” reflecting common frustrations associated with modern relationships in the city.
However, she clarified that her own experiences have not been entirely negative, adding that she has never had a truly terrible date.
Her remarks add to ongoing conversations about dating dynamics within the entertainment industry and the challenges of maintaining personal relationships in high-visibility careers.
