Army operations in Wase, Qua’an Pan, and Shendam yield weapons seizures, arrests, and major blows to fleeing armed groups

Troops under Operation Enduring Peace, a component of Operation Wutan Daji, have intensified clearance operations in Plateau State, recording significant breakthroughs against armed groups and criminal networks.

On April 4, 2026, soldiers engaged suspected terrorists in a fierce firefight along the Babangida–Adua corridor in the Dutsen Zaki forest, Wase Local Government Area. The confrontation led to the killing of two suspects, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.

A sweep of the area uncovered a cache of weapons, including a locally made firearm, a belt loaded with 105 rounds of 7.62mm PKT ammunition, an additional 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a cutlass.

In a separate intelligence-led operation on April 5, troops intercepted four suspected terrorists in Namu District, Qua’an Pan LGA, recovering 100 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. However, as troops advanced to dismantle the group’s hideout, they came under heavy attack from reinforcements. In the ensuing chaos, three of the arrested suspects were killed by their fleeing accomplices, while one suspect was successfully secured.

Elsewhere in Shendam LGA, troops working in collaboration with local residents arrested a suspected kidnapper in Gidan Mangoro village. The suspect is believed to be connected to a recent abduction case and is currently in custody for further investigation.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its resolve to sustain pressure on criminal elements and restore lasting peace across Plateau State. Authorities also called on residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely intelligence to support ongoing security operations.
