Social media activist says rejected deal strained relationship with Afrobeats star, led to end of close association

Social media activist Chief Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has alleged that he rejected a ₦50 million offer from associates of Afrobeats superstar Davido to support the political campaign of the singer’s uncle.

In a viral video making rounds online, VDM claimed he was repeatedly approached with the lucrative deal but refused to accept it, insisting that his decision ultimately altered his relationship with the music star.

According to him, the proposal came with persistent pressure from Davido’s camp, who allegedly tried for days to convince him to participate in the campaign.

“Davido and his crew promised me ₦50 million to help his uncle campaign, but I rejected it. They begged me for days, but I still turned it down,” VDM said.

He added that the incident marked a defining moment in his association with the award-winning singer, noting that it led to a gradual breakdown in their friendship.

“That was when we actually stopped hanging out together,” he stated.

The claims have since sparked reactions across social media, with many users debating the implications of celebrity influence in politics and the nature of the alleged fallout between both figures.
