Edo North senator says Tinubu’s administration is pursuing deep structural reforms that require time, urges Nigerians to assess direction rather than immediate outcomes.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North Senatorial District, has come out strongly in defence of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) Federal Government, dismissing criticisms over the pace of governance and reforms.

Speaking on Wednesday, the former Edo State governor and immediate past National Chairman of the APC said the Tinubu administration never made promises of overnight success, but instead committed itself to implementing long-term solutions to Nigeria’s deeply entrenched challenges.

Oshiomhole noted that although President Tinubu has been in office for about two and a half years, tangible changes are already taking place across different sectors of the country. According to him, the administration is focused on laying a solid foundation through difficult but necessary policy decisions rather than cosmetic adjustments.

He argued that the government is not merely fine-tuning existing systems but embarking on radical reforms aimed at correcting structural defects that have held the nation back for decades. Oshiomhole urged Nigerians to exercise patience and judge the government based on the direction and substance of its policies, stressing that genuine national transformation cannot happen instantly.

Addressing critics, particularly opposition figures, the senator recalled longstanding calls for a departure from old governance practices. He maintained that it was contradictory for those who demanded change to now question the reforms being undertaken.

“We did not promise miracles. In two and a half years of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, every day there is something changing,” Oshiomhole said.

He added that the administration is deliberately breaking away from business-as-usual approaches, noting that President Tinubu is not just reforming the system but fundamentally restructuring it to achieve sustainable progress.

According to Oshiomhole, the focus should not be on seeking immediate comfort but on ensuring that the reforms being implemented today deliver lasting benefits for future generations.
