Victim rescued in Iseyin as police arrest suspected kidnapping syndicate during coordinated operations across the state

The  men of Nigerian Police officers, Oyo State Police Command, have rescued a 60-year-old man, Isiaku Saidu, who was abducted by suspected kidnappers in Iseyin Local Government Area of the state.

The rescue was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Olayinka Ayanlade.

According to Ayanlade, the victim was kidnapped on January 11, 2026, when about five armed hoodlums, wielding guns and cutlasses, stormed Budo community via Bassi Camp in Iseyin and whisked him away.

He said the prompt rescue followed a directive by the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, who ordered an immediate, coordinated operation to ensure the victim’s safe return and the arrest of those responsible.

“Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police directed that all hands must be on deck to rescue the victim and apprehend the perpetrators,” Ayanlade stated.

The police spokesperson added that a three-man kidnapping syndicate was also arrested in Itesiwaju Local Government Area during related security operations.

He explained that officers from the Ago-Are Division, in collaboration with other security agencies, carried out intensive patrols and bush-combing exercises, which led to the discovery of the kidnappers’ hideout and the eventual rescue of the victim.

Ayanlade noted that the recent operations form part of broader efforts by the command to strengthen security across Oyo State.

“Over the past week, the command has recorded multiple operational successes, including the foiling of kidnapping attempts, the rescue of abducted victims, and the arrest of murder suspects,” he said.

The police also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious persons, particularly individuals seen with gunshot or bullet wounds, to the nearest police station.
