Police Arrest Two Over Beretta Pistol in Delta Killing Probe

Suspects linked to firearm shipment from Bayelsa as investigation deepens into death of 28-year-old Oghenemine Ogidi in Effurun

The police have arrested two suspects in connection with a Beretta pistol and ammunition believed to be linked to the death of 28-year-old Oghenemine Ogidi in Effurun, Delta State.

One of the suspects is reportedly the individual who arranged the shipment of the firearm—along with four rounds of ammunition—from Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, to Effurun.

The suspects were brought into the Effurun Area Command on Wednesday night as authorities ramp up efforts to unravel the chain of events that led to Ogidi’s death and identify all those involved in the movement of the weapon.

A source familiar with the investigation confirmed the arrests, stating that while the identities of the suspects have not been officially disclosed, one of them is directly linked to the transportation of the gun via a commercial transport line.

According to preliminary findings, Ogidi, also known as Mine, had collected the pistol in Effurun and was allegedly en route to deliver it to a buyer in Sapele. The incident occurred at Effurun Motor Park, where he was reportedly shot by a police officer under controversial circumstances.

The officer implicated in the incident has been identified as ASP Nuhu Usman, though official details from the Delta State Police Command are still awaited.

Investigators are now widening the net to track additional suspects, including individuals involved in conveying the firearm from Bayelsa, as the case continues to unfold.
