Michael Carrick says he is not expecting to be sacked within the next 24 hours after Manchester United’s damaging home defeat to Bournemouth intensified scrutiny of his position.

Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has insisted that he is not anticipating an immediate dismissal despite the club’s disappointing 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth.

The loss has increased the pressure on Carrick, with United struggling to deliver consistent performances and results this season. The heavy defeat in front of their home supporters has also raised fresh questions about the team’s direction and the manager’s future at Old Trafford.

According to football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, who reported the development on X on Sunday, Carrick addressed the uncertainty surrounding his position after the match, making it clear that he was not expecting an immediate decision from the club’s hierarchy.

“I totally understand the situation. I’m not expecting anything in particular, to be honest. I’m carrying on as normal and, you know, I love this place,” Carrick said.

The United boss acknowledged the circumstances surrounding his position but maintained that he would continue with his responsibilities rather than allow speculation about his future to distract him.

Carrick also reaffirmed his commitment to Manchester United, stressing that his priority would remain doing what he believes is best for the club.

His comments come at a difficult moment for the Red Devils, whose inability to maintain consistent performances has continued to attract criticism from supporters and observers.

The 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth will add to the scrutiny facing the coaching staff as the club looks to address its shortcomings and improve its results.

Although Carrick has said he is not expecting to be dismissed within the next 24 hours, his remarks do not confirm that his position is secure. The club’s next steps regarding his future remain uncertain.

For now, Carrick says he intends to carry on with his work at Old Trafford while maintaining his commitment to the club.
