Davido Teases Wike With ‘I Won, I Beat You Guys’ After Osun Poll

The Afrobeats star playfully claimed victory during Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke’s visit to the FCT Minister, sparking mixed reactions online.

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has sparked reactions online after playfully telling Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, “I won, I beat you guys,” during a visit by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The light-hearted exchange took place in Abuja as Governor Adeleke visited Wike following his victory in the August 15 Osun State governorship election.

In a video shared on Instagram, Davido repeatedly claimed victory while Wike smiled and appeared to dispute the singer’s remark.

Davido later prostrated before Wike and embraced him as people in the room laughed and applauded.

The exchange has been linked to the Osun election, during which Davido openly campaigned for his uncle, Governor Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner with 511,067 votes, defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.

Adeleke won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in 11.

Before the election, Davido was vocal in his criticism of the APC and raised concerns about alleged federal interference and possible violence during the poll. He also appealed to United States President Donald Trump to pay attention to the election.

The singer further stated that he would never join the APC.

However, following the election, Davido described the process as free and fair, saying President Bola Tinubu had allowed democracy to take its course.

The latest exchange between Davido and Wike has generated mixed reactions online. While some social media users viewed the encounter as harmless political banter, others questioned Davido’s cordial interaction with a political figure he had previously criticised.
