Aisha Yesufu Joins ‘Osun Script’ Campaign, Pledges to Protect Vote in 2027

The activist urges Nigerians to adopt the “vote, stay, count, snap the result sheet” strategy ahead of the January 16, 2027 election, saying the next general election should not repeat the experience of 2023.

Activist Aisha Yesufu has joined the growing “Osun Script” social media campaign, pledging to protect her vote ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 elections and urging citizens to take a more active role in the electoral process.

Yesufu announced her participation in a post on X on Saturday, sharing a personalised campaign poster generated through an online platform that allows Nigerians to publicly declare their voting intentions and commitment to safeguarding their ballots.

In her pledge, the activist identified herself as being from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and declared her intention to vote for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the January 16, 2027 election.

She also outlined the steps she intends to take to monitor the electoral process, emphasising the importance of remaining at polling units during vote counting and documenting results.

“I am Aisha Yesufu from FCT. I will vote NDC on 16 January 2027 and play the Osun Script to protect my vote: vote, stay, count, snap the result sheet,” she wrote.

‘2027 Is Not 2023’

Encouraging more Nigerians to join the initiative, Yesufu urged citizens to familiarise themselves with the Osun Script and make their own public commitments ahead of the next election cycle.

“2027 is not 2023. Learn the Osun Script and make your own pledge,” she added.

The campaign is designed to encourage voters to take an active interest in the electoral process rather than leave polling units immediately after casting their ballots.

Participants are invited to complete an online form that generates personalised posters featuring their names, locations, preferred candidates or parties, and pledges to protect their votes. They are then encouraged to share the graphics on social media to spread awareness and attract more participants.

Yesufu also called on Nigerians to mobilise support for Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State, using the hashtags #YouRigWeOsunYou and #VoteNDC.

How the Osun Script Works

The slogan “vote, stay, count, snap the result sheet” captures the campaign’s central message: voters should cast their ballots, remain at polling units to observe the counting process and photograph result sheets where permitted.

The approach places emphasis on voter vigilance, transparency and the documentation of results at polling units, with the aim of helping citizens compare recorded results with figures subsequently announced by electoral authorities.

The campaign draws its name from the 2026 Osun State governorship election, which was won by incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, who contested under the Accord Party, against the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.

According to the figures provided, Adeleke polled 511,067 votes against Oyebamiji’s 444,815, giving him a margin of 66,252 votes.

The reported result has become a reference point for the campaign as supporters promote the idea of sustained voter engagement and the careful documentation of election results.

As preparations and political conversations ahead of 2027 gather momentum, Yesufu’s participation adds her voice to calls for Nigerians to pay closer attention to the voting, counting and result-documentation stages of the electoral process.
